Belton

I had Ceylor LAN doing the Open Intermediate and Persimmon in the Advanced.

Persimmon did another very good test and scored 31.8, but we made two rather large errors, which prevented us from scoring even better. We unfortunately cantered out of both the halts, which would have costs us a lot if marks. It was a real shame as the rest of the test was of high quality.

He then jumped very keenly in the show jumping and had an extremely annoying two down. He jumped in a lovely way but was rather keen and a little over excited to be out.

Persimmon showing his class, I can't believe he had any down jumping like that!!

He then completely redeemed himself by jumping a foot perfect clear cross country taking all the direct routes and feeling amazing. We picked up a few time faults to finish in 7th place.

Ceylor LAN thought he was Valegro in his dressage and scored a 21.8 in his test. I was thrilled with him and chuffed with his mark against much older, more experienced advanced horses.

He then jumped a lovely clear in the show jumping, making it all feel very easy and small!!

He gave me a great ride round a tricky cross country course, he seemed to find it all very easy. We picked up a few time faults as I just want him to gain experience and enjoy himself at the minute. Even with the time faults he still finished third in a very competitive section!!

Portman

I just had Creevagh Cooley at Portman. She was doing her first ever Novice and only her third ever event.

She did a good test, considering how green she is for this level and scored a very creditable 32.

She then jumped a lovely clear in the show jumping, the track was causing plenty of trouble with lots if poles coming down, so I was thrilled with her performance.

She jumped a lovely round around the cross country, but had a very annoying 20 penalties, which was rider error!! I forgot how green she still is and came too quickly into the sunken road, it caught her by surprise, but she jumped through beautifully on her second attempt. I just needed to have given her a little more time to see what she was doing.

All in all it was a very pleasing run, with lots to build on.

Gatcombe

I only had Ceylor LAN and Persimmon at Gatcombe. Ceylor LAN was in the Open Intermediate. He did a very solid test with some fantastic canter work and scored a competitive 28.2.

He then jumped a fantastic clear in the show jumping. I was thrilled with his round as the ground was pretty muddy and sticky, but he coped really well in it.

He then jumped a lovely clear cross country. We went rather sedately as the ground was gluey and he is a special young horse. Our time faults left is just outside the top ten.

Persimmon was competing in the Advanced Intermediate, but as he had only run the week before at Lincoln we just did our dressage. He did a fantastic test to score 26.5. He did some lovely work, but still has things to improve on so it's hugely exciting to score so well when I know we still haven't reached his full potential.
